Well the answer to that would be … well of course! A few weekends ago I got busy with the sewing machine and whipped up a cute new purse, just big enough to fit the necessities, as well as a great big tote to cart around some quilts.
The purse is a super quick modular pattern I designed some time ago that goes together really quickly and I’ve made a number of these purses over the years in different colors with different inset panels and closures. This one is made using a lovely batik fabric in shades of blue and black; casual and smart.

Not that I’m short of a yard or two of fabric, but I wanted a really nice tote to carry around my quilt samples, so I dug through my “special” box of fabrics and pulled out this beautiful handpainted batik art panel which was just the right size. I’ve collected quite a number of these beautiful panels over the years at various quilts shows and have them stashed away waiting for just the right project. If you’re looking for something similar, you can pick them up online at Batik Tambal and also Indonesian Batiks. I think the tote is quite eyecatching and I’ve got lots of panels left over … hmmm how many totes does a girl need?

Thanks Carole, it’s always good to have inspiration.
I just discovered your blog and what fun things you share with us, Your bag is beautiful and your tote is unique. As I look thru blogs I have learned that the pattern is important, but the material is what makes the final canvas. Is there somewhere that the purse pattern can be purchased?
Thanks Angie, and unfortunately the pattern is not for sale – maybe one day.
