Photo EZ

Photo EZ is a specially prepared fine mesh nylon screen that is light-sensitive and is used to prepare a screen stencil (like a silk screen). In a nutshell the screen is prepared by printing a black and white design onto a piece of copy paper or transparency; placing the Photo EZ sheet over the top of the design and exposing it to daylight before rinsing. Using this method it’s really quick and easy to make a screen stencil and tends to not interfere too much with the creative flow. More information can be found here.

I like to use Photo EZ screens because they’re quick and well … easy to make. However the weather here in Florida during the summer is a constant challenge because of the sudden rain storms that come in and I’ve been caught out more than once when I’ve left painted fabric out to dry in the sun and then forgot about it when it started to rain.

This past week or so I’ve been trying desperately to get some Photo EZ screens done but it seems like every time I had everything prepared and ready to go, well those darn storms just came in suddenly and ruined my sunshine.

So I finally got desperate enough to ask my husband to make me a Photo EZ lightbox and wow, what a great idea that was! I can now just go out to my workroom and quickly make a screen in all of a few minutes without having to worry about overcast days and lack of sunlight.

My hubby did a great job using the instructions found here and this is what my new lightbox looks like. It works a treat and I hope to have some samples on the blog before too long.
